Job summary

Newmont Australia’s Boddington operation in Western Australia invites applications for an Advisor Surface Development. You will drive operational improvement initiatives, work with mining operations leaders, contractors and technical teams to deliver practical field-based solutions and improve safety and productivity.

Based at Boddington Gold Mine on an 8/6 roster, the role offers on-site accommodation, exposure to advanced mining technologies and opportunities to influence contractor

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications or equivalent operational mining experience.
• Experience in open pit mining operations, mine supervision or operational improvement initiatives.
• Experience working with contractors, OEMs or mining service providers with performance management.
• Strong understanding of mining operational performance drivers and continuous improvement principles.
• Proven ability to influence stakeholders and lead operational change.

Responsibilities

• Lead the implementation and execution of operational improvement initiatives across the Boddington Mining Operation.
• Translate improvement opportunities into practical field-based solutions and operational change programs with Mining Operations leaders and technical teams.
• Coordinate change management activities including risk assessments, frontline engagement and procedural updates.
• Support contractor performance through governance, KPI monitoring and stakeholder engagement.
• Monitor and validate improvement outcomes, ensuring benefits are realised and sustained as BAU.

Your impact

As a Advisor Surface Development, you'll play a key role in delivering operational improvement initiatives and supporting contractor performance across Newmont's Boddington Mining Operation. Working closely with Mining Operations leaders, contractors and technical teams, you'll drive the execution of improvement projects, embed sustainable change and help improve operational performance, safety and productivity across the mining business.

As part of our team you will

• Lead the implementation and execution of operational improvement initiatives, ensuring opportunities are progressed from concept through to sustainable operational outcomes.
• Work closely with Mining Operations leaders and technical teams to translate improvement opportunities into practical field-based solutions and operational change programs.
• Coordinate operational change management activities, including risk assessments, frontline engagement, procedural updates and the embedding of new ways of working.
• Support contractor and business partner performance through contract governance, KPI monitoring, stakeholder engagement and compliance activities.
• Monitor and validate improvement outcomes, ensuring benefits are realised, sustained and successfully transitioned into business-as-usual operations.

Prerequisites for your success in the role

• Tertiary qualifications in Mining Engineering, Operations Management or a related discipline, or equivalent operational mining experience.
• Demonstrated experience in open pit mining operations, mine supervision, mining projects or operational improvement initiatives.
• Experience working with contractors, OEMs or mining service providers, including performance management and stakeholder coordination.
• Strong understanding of mining operational performance drivers, contractor governance and continuous improvement principles.
• Proven ability to influence stakeholders, lead operational change and deliver practical outcomes in a dynamic mining environment.

Your Work Environment

This permanent position is offered on an 8/6 roster, working 12-hour days, and is based at Boddington Gold Mine.

Village accommodation is provided while on site. Reporting to the Superintendent, Automation, Optimisation & Scheduling, you will work closely with Mine Supervisors, Mine Technical Services, Analytics and Optimisation specialists, contractors and business partners to deliver operational improvement initiatives and support contractor performance across the mining operation. This role provides an excellent opportunity for operational leaders looking to broaden their experience in business improvement, project execution and contract management while contributing to the performance of one of Australia's leading mining operations.
