Job summary

Ambulance Victoria (AV) is seeking an Advisor, Human Resources to deliver professional HR services across our People and Culture Department. This full-time, fixed-term 12-month role is based in Blackburn, with hybrid work options and travel within the metropolitan region as required.

The ideal candidate will hold a tertiary HR qualification and have senior HR experience, with strong policy knowledge, stakeholder engagement and change management skills.

We are seeking an Advisor, Human Resources to provide professional and effective HR services including advice, support, guidance and analysis on policies, practices, and legislation as an important part of our People and Culture Department.

This is a full-time, fixed-term 12-month position based in Blackburn. Flexible work from home (WFH) and hybrid working arrangements are available in line with our hybrid working model. The successful applicant must be willing to travel to various locations across the metropolitan region as required.

About the role

Reporting to the Senior People Partner, responsibilities of this position include but not limited to:

  • Provide professional and effective HR services across AV, including advice, support, guidance and analysis on people policies, practices, and employment legislation
  • Coach, counsel and support managers and employees on employment matters, and complex people issues, including workplace conflict, grievances, misconduct and performance management
  • Provide HR expertise and recommendations, to support projects, organisational initiatives and continuous improvement activities
  • Develop and implement communication and consultation strategies to keep stakeholders informed and engaged throughout projects and consultations
About you

The ideal candidate will have tertiary qualification in Human Resources or related discipline. Additional requirements include but not limited to:

  • Proven experience in a senior general or specialist HR role, preferably across the public sector with demonstrated ability to adapt theoretical knowledge of current HR issues and lead implementation of change across a large, geographically disparate organisation
  • Extensive working knowledge and application of general and specialist HR practices, regulations, and legislation including previous experience in coaching and supporting managers, leaders and employees with conflict resolution, grievances and managing performance
  • Demonstrated high-level communication, interpersonal and relationship building skills
  • Highly proficient with Microsoft Office suite including Word, Excel, and Outlook
