Job summary

Future Generation Joint Venture (FGJV) is seeking an experienced HSE Coordinator to oversee day-to-day site‑based HSE governance and support the construction team on Snowy 2.0. The role focuses on environmental approvals management, reporting, and integration of requirements into project systems in challenging remote areas of NSW.

Responsibilities

  • Provide advice and support to the construction management team to ensure compliance with statutory, FGJV and client Environmental obligations.
  • Implement Environmental plans and subsidiary systems documentation.
  • Communicate Environmental issues, standards, and procedures.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of the Area Environmental Inspection and Audit Schedule.
  • Undertake and participate in Internal, SHL & External Environmental Audits.
  • Provide support to the Area Site Environment team.
  • Ensure the Area Site Environment team are effectively resourced to meet the obligations of the HSE Activity Schedule.
  • Assist to identify environmental training requirements.
  • Collect and consolidate regulatory documentation provided by subcontractors as per project requirements (e.g. hazardous waste logbook, certificates from providers transporting and disposing of wastes, limits for waste disposal, etc).
  • Promote a dynamic and positive HSSE culture, focused on achieving success.
  • Ensure representation is maintained at key construction planning and coordination meetings.

Job description

The Future Generation Joint Venture brings together the combined engineering experience and expertise of WeBuild, Clough and Lane and has been selected to design construct Snowy 2.0. This project is based within the Snowy Mountains in NSW and will deliver one of the largest pumped hydro schemes in the world.

Snowy 2.0 is the next chapter in the Snowy Scheme's history. It is the largest committed renewable energy project in Australia and will provide on-demand energy and large-scale storage for many generations to come. This Iconic Project has and will continue to create its own legacy in Australian history.

Purpose of the Role:

This position is accountable for the day-to-day coordination of site based HSE governance activities and construction team support to ensure that FGJV maintains a healthy and safe working environment for all personnel in accordance with FGJV Health & Safety Management system and client specifications.

Primary responsibility lies in the maintenance and reporting of the environmental approvals, communication of the requirements to the wider project team and integration of the requirements into the project environmental management systems.

Qualifications:
  • Tertiary qualification in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge in environmental law and regulations.
  • Drivers’ License.
  • White Card.
Experience:
  • Minimum of 3 years managing, securing, and maintaining environmental planning approvals, licenses, and permits (preferably)for infrastructure or construction projects.
  • Prove track record of successfully obtaining environmental approvals for construction and development projects.
  • Experience writing management plans and compliance reports.
Required Competencies:
  • Environmental Regulations: In-depth understanding of local and national environmental laws, regulations, and permitting processes.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Ability to engage with regulatory agencies, stakeholders, and project teams to facilitate approvals and compliance.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving abilities to address environmental approval challenges effectively.
  • Communication: Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with environmental impact assessments, mitigation measures, and sustainability practices.
  • Exceptional knowledge and ability in the use of the Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
