Job description

The Cairns Jockey Club is home to 18 race meetings each year, including the Great Northern Brewing Co Super Carnival, and is a leading hub for events in Cairns, hosting a wide variety of non-race day functions throughout the year.

We are seeking a motivated Administration Assistant to join our team in a casual role (25–35 hours per week, with additional hours during major events).

Role Overview

Australian residents only — this role is not suitable for 88-day holiday visa work.

Responsibilities
  • Answer and direct phone calls, take messages
  • Greet and assist visitors; handle customer enquiries
  • Manage email, phone, and face-to-face enquiries
  • Process bookings and ticket sales
  • Photocopy, print, laminate and prepare signage
  • Maintain digital and manual filing systems
  • Update and manage contact lists and databases confidentially
  • Assist with race day and event preparation/set-up
  • Provide support to management and the wider team as required
