Job summary

Youi Insurance on the Sunshine Coast and Chermside offices is seeking an experienced actuarial pricing professional to shape pricing and underwriting decisions. You’ll analyse portfolio performance and present actionable recommendations across Product, Marketing, Operations and Actuarial.

The role blends analysis with implementation and monitoring, with a hybrid working model and opportunities to influence customer outcomes, profitability and growth.

Qualifications

• Several years of actuarial experience, ideally within general insurance, pricing or a similarly analytical commercial environment.
• Strong Excel, SAS and SQL capability and confidence working directly with large datasets.
• Ability to work through an ambiguous problem rather than waiting for a predefined analytical task.
• Confidence questioning results, challenging assumptions and investigating what is driving an outcome.
• Ability to turn analysis into a clear recommendation and course of action.
• Confidence communicating with stakeholders who may not have an actuarial or technical background.
• Progress beyond an actuarial degree and continued actuarial studies or professional development.

Job description

You'll love this role if you're an experienced actuarial professional with a strong background in general insurance pricing and underwriting who wants to influence commercial decisions, not just analyse them.

At Youi, you'll use your pricing expertise and deep understanding of portfolio performance to help shape how we assess risk, optimise pricing outcomes and improve business performance. This isn't a role where your work stops at producing analysis. You'll be trusted to investigate complex trends, challenge assumptions, identify opportunities and recommend actions that drive meaningful portfolio outcomes.

Working across pricing, underwriting and portfolio performance, you'll apply actuarial thinking to real business challenges and see your recommendations through from initial investigation to implementation and post-change monitoring. You'll have the opportunity to influence decisions that directly impact customer outcomes, profitability and growth.

This role suits someone who enjoys getting into the detail, understanding what's driving performance and partnering with stakeholders to solve complex problems. You'll work closely with teams across Product, Marketing, Operations and Actuarial, giving you broad exposure to how pricing and underwriting decisions influence the wider business.

• Location - Youi HQ - Sippy Downs, Sunshine Coast or Chermside
• Standard hours - 8:00am – 4:00pm (flexible where needed)
