Job summary

BDO Australia is seeking a detailed and client-focused professional to join our Business Services team. You will work with privately owned businesses and multi-entity groups, delivering tax advisory and core compliance work while supporting ongoing advisory engagements.

Qualified CA/CPA or in progress, with experience in professional services and Xero, will help drive structuring, planning and accurate financial reporting across entities.

Qualifications

• Experience in a professional services or public practice essential.

• Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving capability, with strong attention to detail.
• Ability to manage workstreams with ownership and a proactive, client-focused approach.
• Exposure to direct client interaction and building relationships.
• Currently completing or have completed the CA or CPA qualification.
• Experience with Xero and related systems is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Prepare financial statements in line with accounting, regulatory and reporting standards across a range of privately owned and multi-entity group structures.
• Prepare income tax returns for companies, trusts, individuals and broader family groups.
• Manage core compliance obligations including BAS, GST, FBT, payroll tax and year-end tax planning.
• Support tax planning initiatives and assist with technical matters such as group structuring, Division 7A, trust distributions, CGT and ATO reviews.
• Deliver business and tax advisory services, including cash flow and profitability analysis, performance improvement, restructuring and growth advisory.
• Assist with management reporting, forecasting and KPI tracking, supporting vCFO-style engagements.
• Build strong relationships within the Business Services team and develop trusted client relationships through consistent, high-quality service.

About the Role

BDO’s Business Services team works closely with privately owned businesses and family groups across accounting, tax and ongoing commercial matters. Our clients are typically founder-led or family-controlled groups operating across multiple entities, often in growth, restructure or succession phases.

The team’s work goes beyond compliance, partnering with business owners year-round on structure, tax outcomes and key business decisions. Alongside core compliance, you will be supported by experienced professionals while gaining exposure to complex multi-entity groups and meaningful advisory work, acting as a trusted adviser to clients.

Key Responsibilities
