• Maintain and implement the finance tech stack; lead AI-driven improvements to controls.

This role

As our Financial Accountant, you’ll be working with the Financial Control team reporting to the Finance Manager, and will be instrumental in shaping accurate financial reporting, process automation, and robust internal controls.

Your key focus areas will be:

• Split time between month-end close processes and technical project work.
• Lead AI-driven improvements, system enhancements, and control automation.
• Train, upskill, and support the wider finance team.
• Deliver accurate balance sheet substantiations and budget variance analysis.

This will include the following:

• Own month-end close processes, including revenue reconciliations and usage-based reporting and analysis for service providers.
• Own balance sheet reconciliations and substantiation across your areas of responsibility, ensuring accuracy and audit-readiness ahead of monthly, quarterly and annual reporting.
• Investigate and explain variances against budget and prior period, providing commentary to the Finance Manager.
• Review and post credit requests to support the broader accounts receivable function.
• Maintain and help implement the finance tech stack, lead AI-driven improvements to controls, and take on focused project work as required.
• Partner with IT, Marketing and other operational teams to ensure accurate cost allocation, accruals and spend reporting.
• Train, upskill and support the wider finance team.

Role Description

We are seeking a technically strong Intermediate Accountant to join our team in a full‑time contractor capacity (38 hours per week).

The Intermediate Accountant supports the delivery of accounting and financial reporting services for Australian clients. Working alongside the bookkeeping team and Accounting Managers, this role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing month‑end reports, responding to client enquiries, and supporting the delivery of high‑quality accounting services.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years’ Australian public practice experience.
• CA or CPA qualified (or currently studying).
• Experience using Xero, Dext and associated cloud accounting platforms.
• Experience using BGL CAS360 or other ASIC corporate secretarial software.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
