Opposite Lock Ipswich is seeking a hands-on Accessory Fitter to professionally install 4WD accessories and equipment across a range of vehicles.

You will fit towbars, bullbars, roof racks, suspension upgrades, and electrical components, ensuring safety and quality. The role emphasizes accuracy, customer service, and teamwork within a growing workshop.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in automotive accessory fitting or similar trade.
• Confident using workshop tools and electrical testing devices.
• Understanding of vehicle electrical systems and safe installation practices.
• High attention to detail and pride in workmanship.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills.
• Current driver’s licence.

Responsibilities

• Install a wide range of 4WD accessories and equipment to manufacturer standards.
• Inspect vehicles before and after fitment to ensure quality.
• Read and interpret fitting instructions and wiring diagrams.
• Work efficiently to meet deadlines while maintaining safety & quality.
• Keep the workshop area clean, organised, and compliant with WHS policies.

About the Role

As an Accessory Fitter, you’ll be responsible for the professional installation of automotive accessories, towbars, and 4x4 equipment in line with Opposite Lock’s quality standards and manufacturer specifications.

You’ll work on a variety of vehicles and products from leading brands, using your mechanical skills, attention to detail, and commitment to safety and customer satisfaction.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Fit and install a wide range of 4WD and vehicle accessories including:

  • Towbars and wiring looms

  • Bullbars, side steps, and rear bars

  • Roof racks, winches, and recovery gear

  • Suspension upgrades and underbody protection

  • Electrical accessories such as driving lights and dual battery systems

• Inspect vehicles before and after fitment to ensure top-quality workmanship

• Read and interpret fitting instructions, wiring diagrams, and specifications

• Work efficiently to meet deadlines while maintaining high safety and quality standards

• Keep your work area clean, organised, and compliant with WHS policies

• Communicate with customers and team members about job requirements and progress

What You’ll Bring

Essential:

• Proven experience in automotive accessory fitting, mechanical work, or similar trade

• Confident using workshop tools, equipment, and electrical testing devices

• Understanding of vehicle electrical systems and safe installation practices

• High attention to detail and pride in your work

• Strong teamwork and communication skills

• Current driver’s licence

• Trade qualification not essential

• 4x4 industry experience or a personal passion for off-road vehicles
