JMC Academy invites applications for an Academic Skills Advisor (Part Time, Permanent) at its Sydney campus. The role focuses on academic skills development, learning support, and delivering both individual and group sessions to help students succeed in higher education.

Attendance is 3 days per week in Sydney. You will work within the Academic Support Team, collaborating with staff to deliver workshops, develop resources, and contribute to student progression and retention strategies, while

Competenze

Have previous experience working with students in a higher education setting, including those with disabilities, learning difficulties and/or neurodiversity.
Possess exceptional academic literacy skills, including research methodologies, academic writing, assessment planning and study skills.
Have experience interpreting assessment requirements, marking criteria and academic expectations.
Are able to communicate complex ideas in a clear, engaging and accessible manner.
Have the ability to design, develop and deliver engaging workshops for students and academic staff.
Demonstrate a collaborative, proactive and student-centred approach to your work.
Possess excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Have strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Are confident working both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Demonstrate a clear alignment with JMC Academy's purpose, vision and values.

Mansioni

Meet with students individually and in group settings to provide academic support, including assessment planning, research skills, academic writing, study strategies and learning development.
Actively contribute to JMC Academy's transition and intervention strategies to support identified and at-risk students in achieving positive learning outcomes.
Liaise with Heads of Department, academic staff and campus leaders to develop and deliver in-class academic workshops and revision support sessions.
Develop learning resources to support student learning, including resources for students with diverse learning needs.
Design, develop and facilitate academic skills workshops for students and staff, including transition-to-tertiary-learning programs.
Support students in understanding assessment requirements, marking rubrics and academic expectations.
Collaborate with the broader Academic Support Team, including Learning Support Coordinators and Counsellors, to provide holistic student support.
Monitor student engagement and contribute to initiatives that support student retention and academic success.
Maintain accurate records and documentation relating to student support activities.
