Job summary

NACCHO is seeking an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander doctor to join as an unaccredited registrar, supported to complete AFPHM training via RPL. This 12-month maximum term contract offers a unique pathway into Public Health Medicine within Australia's Aboriginal Community-Controlled sector.

You will work with Public Health Physicians and Medical Advisors on policy development, health promotion, disease prevention, and program evaluation, contributing to national health policy and

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery or equivalent qualification recognised by the Australian Medical Council.
• Current unrestricted AHPRA registration.
• Medical indemnity insurance.
• Master of Public Health (MPH) in progress.
• Minimum two years post-graduate clinical experience.
• Interest in public health, health policy and health equity.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to public and population health projects and initiatives.
• Develop policy advice and recommendations on priority public health issues.
• Support the design, implementation and evaluation of public health programs.
• Analyse public health issues, including the context and impacts of that analysis upon Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
• Work collaboratively with ACCHOs, NACCHO Affiliates and key stakeholders.
• Participate in AFPHM learning and development activities.
• Assist with public health research, surveillance and program evaluation.
