Job summary

Flinders and Upper North Local Health Network in Far North Australia is seeking an Aboriginal Health Practitioner for the Emergency Department. You will deliver culturally safe, person-centred care to Aboriginal patients, coordinating assessments, education and advocacy with multidisciplinary teams to improve outcomes.

The role emphasizes reconciliation, community engagement and a commitment to culturally appropriate care within a regional health network.

Qualifications

• Certificate IV in Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care Practice with ATSIHPBA registration.
• Strong Aboriginal community connections and commitment to culturally safe, confidential care.
• Experience in health assessments, treatment, referrals, advocacy and psychosocial support.
• Strong communication, problem-solving and multidisciplinary teamwork skills.
• Ability to advocate for Aboriginal patients and promote culturally appropriate care.

Responsibilities

• You will provide culturally safe, person-centred care to Aboriginal patients accessing emergency and hospital services.
• Working with multidisciplinary teams, you will undertake clinical assessments, coordinate care, provide health education and advocacy, and strengthen engagement with treatment plans to improve health outcomes for Aboriginal patients and families.
