Job summary

Royal Flying Doctor Service of Australia (Queensland Section) is seeking an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Practitioner to deliver culturally safe, holistic primary health care in remote communities.

This full-time role involves three community days, one office day, and one rostered day off per week, within a multidisciplinary team. Base salary is $87,500 AUD plus Super; generous benefits and a supportive environment are offered.

Qualifications

• AHPRA registration as an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Practitioner
• Certificate IV or higher in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care (Practice).
• Experience working as an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Practitioner in a community, primary health care or related setting
• Demonstrated ability to build respectful relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, families, communities and stakeholders.
• Strong understanding of culturally safe health care practices.
• Cultural knowledge, community connections and lived experience are highly valued.
• Excellent communication, time management and organisational skills.
• Computer literacy and a high standard of report writing.

• Provide holistic and culturally safe care to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, families and communities
• Act as a liaison between patients, families, communities and health care providers, supporting continuity of care and access to services
• Support community-led health and wellbeing initiatives and contribute to local health promotion activities
• Share health information in a culturally appropriate way that empowers people to make informed decisions about their health and wellbeing
• Carry out clinical assessments, tests and procedures within your scope of practice while working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.

About the Royal Flying Doctor Service (Queensland Section) (RFDS)
The RFDS (Queensland Section) has a team of over 500 professionals delivering aeromedical retrievals, primary health care clinics, mental health services, oral health programs, and telehealth. Primary Health Care (PHC) accounts for two-thirds of all services delivered by RFDS Queensland, with more than 24,000 GP and nursing consultations and over 2,000 immunisations provided across the state in the last financial year. On average, our teams deliver 200 occasions of care each day across Queensland.
Our Role
The RFDS (Queensland Section) is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Practitioner to provide culturally safe, holistic primary health care and support positive health outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, families and communities.
This is a full-time position, with three days spent in the community, one office-based day, and one RDO each week.

Before commencement, successful candidates must undergo a drug and alcohol test and possibly a medical assessment.
