Job summary

The Central Australian Aboriginal Family Legal Unit (CAAFLU) invites applications for multiple full-time Legal Practitioners across Alice Springs and Tennant Creek, NT. You will provide culturally appropriate legal advice and representation in DVO, Victims of Crime, and related areas, working with Community Engagement Workers to deliver wrap-around support.

Qualifications

  • Eligible to hold a restricted or unrestricted legal practising certificate in the Northern Territory.
  • Around 2+ years of post-admission legal experience will be highly regarded.
  • Trauma-informed practice and DFSV/Family Law exposure valued.

Responsibilities

  • Provide culturally appropriate legal advice and representation in DVO, Victims of Crime, with occasional Child Protection and Family Law matters.
  • Collaborate with Community Engagement Workers to deliver wrap-around legal and non-legal support.
  • Manage case files, records, and contribute to outreach and law reform initiatives.
  • Deliver Community Legal Education and build relationships with external stakeholders.
  • Travel to remote communities to support clients and engage with communities.
