NSW Department of Education in Tamworth is seeking an Aboriginal Attendance Officer (Identified) to re-engage Aboriginal students with their education. The role is full-time, requiring at least four days per week at a designated education office with one day remotely, subject to operations.

This is a full-time role (5 days per week). You will be required to work a minimum 4 days per week at a designated education office location when not delivering face to face support in schools. 1 day per week may be worked remotely, subject to operational requirements.
Student Wellbeing Support provide direct support to schools to strengthen accessible and inclusive education practice to maximise wellbeing and learning for students in NSW public schools. The Student Wellbeing Support directorate includes four Student Wellbeing Support groups that service our schools across various principal networks. Student Wellbeing Support advances equitable outcomes through outcomes focused programs, systems, and processes.
Schools access our support through the one-call, Team Around a School model. The Team Around a School helps school teams to improve student learning and wellbeing practices and strengthens school and staff initiatives across the care continuum. We are a key enabler of the department’s Plan for Public Education and are committed to providing support to schools that is efficient, effective, and easy to access.
The Aboriginal Attendance Officer role is to create the connection between Aboriginal students, parents, schools and agencies so the student has the best possible chance of re-engaging in their education with the promise of a better future. The role work strategically to assist schools with meeting agreed attendance targets operate as part of the state-wide attendance program to achieve organisational objectives and align with government priorities.
On Wednesday, 2 September 2026 at 2:30pm, the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Recruitment and Advisory team will host an online Yarn Up (information session) about this role. The session will provide a detailed overview of the recruitment process, including applying for the position and interview to build confidence in your application.
