Job summary

North West Hospital and Health Service in Mount Isa is seeking an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Senior Educator to lead education and workforce development across multiple Hospital and Health Services.

You will design, deliver and evaluate contemporary education programs, mentor staff to work to full scope of practice, and build partnerships with educators and Indigenous health leaders to align with statewide priorities.

As the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Senior Educator, you will provide senior education and workforce development leadership across multiple Hospital and Health Services, working closely with the Office of the Chief Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Workforce and local stakeholders. You will design, deliver and evaluate contemporary education programs, identify workforce learning needs and provide professional, clinical and cultural mentoring to support staff to work to their full scope of practice.

• Provide expert advice, mentoring and supervision to support workforce capability, leadership and professional development.
• Conduct learning needs analyses and competency assessments to identify workforce priorities and develop targeted training plans.
• Build strong partnerships with educators, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health leaders and other stakeholders to align education with statewide priorities and local workforce needs.

Working with us

• For 1 year will get you an isolation bonus of AUD$3,695. If you stay for 2 years you will get AUD$11,085… and for your 3rd year (and every year after that) you will get AUD$7,390 (pro rata for part time employees).
• In your downtime, we will provide 2 return airfares p.a. (full time employees) (inc. spouse/dependents) or 1 return airfare p.a. (part time employees) to the nearest east coast provincial city in conjunction with your Recreation leave.
• Tax savings through salary sacrificing options are also available.

Requirements

• To perform this role, it is essential that the person who holds the position be an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person. It is therefore a genuine occupational requirement under section 25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 that applicants are Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islanders.
• Successfully completed an approved Diploma (AQF level 5) qualification in an eligible Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Workforce stream profession/role.
• Completion of a relevant post graduate education qualification or Certificate IV Training and Assessment.
• Any successful applicant who does not hold an approved Diploma (AQF level 5) qualification will be appointed for a fixed term, subject to engaging and participating in a learning agreement to obtain the required qualification(s) with essential level support under Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Education Scheme.
• C Class Motor Vehicle Licence.
• Pre-employment screening will be conducted for the successful applicant, including Criminal History / Blue Card checks.
• This is a VPD risk role and may require evidence of vaccination or immunity to: Hepatitis A/B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis, and Tuberculosis.
• A period of probation may apply.
