Alexon Fire Protection is seeking an experienced A-Grade Electrician to join our Melbourne team. You will be responsible for the inspection, testing, maintenance, and fault-finding of fire detection and alarm systems, ensuring compliance with AS 1851 and BCA standards across a portfolio of commercial buildings.

The role emphasizes accuracy, documentation, and client liaison, with a company vehicle, phone, and tools provided.

Qualifications

• A-Grade Electrical Licence required.
• Strong knowledge of AS 1851 and compliance requirements.
• Experience with fault finding and diagnostics.
• Ability to work independently and manage workload.
• Willingness to join alternating on-call roster.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, test, and maintain fire detection and alarm systems across multiple sites.
• Fault find and rectify defects in fire protection systems.
• Service electrical components of fire panels, EWIS, and related systems.
• Install, upgrade, and modify fire protection systems as required.
• Prepare detailed reports and maintain service records.
• Liaise with clients, building managers, and internal teams to ensure compliance.

About the Role

We are seeking an A Grade Electrician to join our expanding team. Fire Industry training will be provided for the right applicant.

This is not a general electrical role—you’ll be responsible for the inspection, fault-finding, testing, and maintenance of fire detection and alarm systems, ensuring full compliance with AS 1851 and BCA requirements and complete project installs.

You’ll play a key role in maintaining life safety systems across a diverse portfolio of commercial buildings, working with a team that understands the technical and regulatory demands of the fire industry.

Key Responsibilities

• Inspection, testing, and maintenance of fire detection and alarm systems

• Fault finding and rectification of fire system defects

• Electrical servicing of fire panels, EWIS, and associated systems

• Installs, upgrades, and system modifications

• Preparing detailed reports and maintaining accurate service records (Uptick)

• Liaising with clients, building managers, and internal teams

• Ensuring strict compliance with AS 1851, BCA, and relevant standards

About You

You’re an experienced A Grade Electrician who understands the importance of compliance, documentation, and system reliability not just getting the job done. Ideally we are looking for someone with Fire Services experience but a willingness to learn, a can do attitude and attention to detail matter most.

You take ownership of your work, can diagnose issues efficiently, and are confident working across multiple sites.

Essential:

• A-Grade Electrical Licence

• Strong working knowledge of AS 1851 and compliance requirements

• Experience with fault finding

• Ability to work independently and manage your workload

• Ability to join alternating minimal on-call roster

Highly Regarded:

• Experience with EWIS systems

• Experience in fire protection systems

• Familiarity with Uptick

• Understanding of BCA requirements

Other Requirements:

• White Card, EWP, Current Drivers License

• Current Police Check & Working with Children Check
