Job summary

OneStep Group is seeking an Associate Security Engineer to join our Security Operations Centre (SOC) in Australia. Reporting to the SOC Team Lead, you will monitor and investigate security alerts, respond to incidents, and support managed security clients.

You will work with experienced engineers to improve tools, detections and automation. You'll bring 1–2 years in a SOC or similar role, familiarity with SIEM/XDR such as Microsoft Sentinel or Defender XDR, and a solid understanding of

Qualifications

• 1–2 years' experience in a SOC or similar cyber security role.
• Familiarity with SIEM/XDR tools, ideally Microsoft Sentinel or Defender XDR.
• An understanding of networking and security fundamentals.
• Some experience with KQL, PowerShell or Python, or a strong interest in learning.
• Clear communication, sound judgement and a willingness to keep developing your skills.

Responsibilities

• Take part in rostered or after-hours support when required.

What you'll bring

• Around 1-2 years' experience in a SOC or similar cyber security role. Relevant hands-on or internship experience will also be considered.
• Familiarity with SIEM or XDR tools, ideally Microsoft Sentinel or Defender XDR.
• An understanding of networking and security fundamentals.
• Some experience with KQL, PowerShell or Python, or a strong interest in learning.
• Clear communication, sound judgement and a willingness to keep developing your skills.

Australian citizenship is desirable for roles that may require eligibility for government security clearances.
