Job summary

Hutchison Ports Australia is seeking an experienced operational leader to join our Sydney terminal as a casual Shift Manager, responsible for safe, efficient and productive 24/7 container terminal operations at Port Botany.

You will lead frontline teams, drive safety, productivity and workforce performance, and coordinate with planners, customers and stakeholders to deliver outstanding operational outcomes across day, night and weekend shifts.

Qualifications

• Experience leading operational teams in a complex environment.
• Background within one or more of the following industries: stevedoring, transport & logistics, rail, manufacturing, mining, defence, warehousing & distribution.
• Demonstrated experience managing safety, productivity and operational performance.
• Strong leadership and people management capability.
• Experience working within a unionised workforce environment.
• Ability to make decisions quickly and confidently in a dynamic operational setting.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Sound computer and systems skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead Safe Operations and champion a strong safety culture across the terminal.
• Drive vessel, yard and landside productivity with safe, efficient operations.
• Provide leadership and direction to a large operational workforce.
• Liaise with shipping lines, customers, planners and terminal stakeholders to address challenges.
