Job summary

Eastern Health is recruiting doctors for Basic Physician Training in 2027, with rotations across Cardiology, Oncology, Infectious diseases, renal, neurology, gastro, aged care and General Medicine Registrar.

This role provides a well-supported Education program, dedicated Educational Supervisor, and mentoring. Applicants should have completed BPT1 or equivalent and hold General Registration with AHPRA. Training is centered within Melbourne’s large public health network.

About the role

Physician Training at Eastern Health is in an exciting phase of growth and has a well supported Education program aimed to help you get through your training, pass your exams and ultimately be a caring and compassionate Physician. There is a number of National examiners that support and mentor our trainees. You will also have a dedicated Educational Supervisor during your training.

This position is clinically responsible to the Registrar and Consultants of the Unit.

The Basic Physician Trainee Year 2 is responsible for coordinating and documenting the admission, management and discharge planning of patients admitted to their ward. You will also participate in the Basic Physician Training Program and register and complete the requirements of the Royal Australian College of Physicians. You report to the Director of Physician Education for your training responsibilities. There is also at least one rotation as a General Medical Registrar.

We are recruiting doctors who are interested in continuing their Basic Physician Training in 2027. This role is available to those doctors who will have completed BPT1 in 2026 or have previously had their first year of training certified by RACP.

Rotations may include Cardiology, Oncology, Infectious diseases, renal, neurology, gastro, aged care and General Medicine Registrar.
