Job summary

Ausgrid is offering a 12-week Engineering Summer Internship in NSW. You will join Sydney or Newcastle offices and work on real projects that support critical energy infrastructure and the energy transition.

This paid internship includes mentorship, a buddy program, and structured development to strengthen your engineering and professional skills. The program targets 3rd year (or penultimate year) Bachelor of Engineering students in Electrical Engineering, who hold Australian Citizenship or

  • Passionate Bachelor of Engineering degree students in 3rd or penultimate year of study.
  • Aligning degree/majors in Electrical Engineering.
  • Must hold Australian Citizenship or Permanent Residency at time of application.
  • Commitment to work full-time for 12 weeks from late November 2026 (some flexibility available)

  • Work on meaningful engineering projects that support critical energy infrastructure.
  • Contribute to projects that power communities across NSW and support energy transition.

12 Week structured program: Enjoy a tailored internship experience that combines meaningful work and professional development, with potential pathways into our Graduate Program.

Real impact: Work on meaningful engineering projects that support critical energy infrastructure and deliver outcomes for our customers and communities. This summer you could find yourself working in an area such as Transmission Substations, Asset Insights, Major Projects, Renewable Energy Zones, Asset Management & Planning or Design.

Hands-on experience: Gain valuable insight into the energy industry, explore different engineering career paths, and work alongside seasoned engineers to gain practical skills that will set you apart in your career.

Support and development: Join a supportive environment where questions are encouraged and learn from our experienced engineers. Receive regular feedback and be paired with a buddy to help you navigate your internship experience.

Learn: Strengthen your technical and professional capabilities, including problem-solving, communication, teamwork, stakeholder engagement and project delivery.

Create connections: Build connections and network with engineering professionals, leaders, graduates and fellow interns while expanding your professional network.

Who we are looking for:

Passionate Bachelor of Engineering degree students in 3rd or penultimate year of study

Aligning degree/majors in Electrical Engineering

At time of application candidates must hold Australian Citizenship or Permanent Residency

Commitment to work full-time for 12 weeks from late November 2026 (some flexibility available)
