Job summary

Seattle Public Schools is seeking a Special Education Assistant/ISE-203 to support the supervision, care, and instruction of students with special needs in regular or self-contained classrooms. Location may change within the district as program needs shift.

Responsibilities include implementing IEP objectives, coordinating with teachers and parents, and assisting with personal care and safety. Reports to the Bridges Program and attends IEP meetings as required.

Qualifications

• Basic math and fractions/percent calculations.
• Ability to read and follow manuals and written instructions.
• Convey information to others and maintain confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Adapt classroom activities and materials under teacher direction.
• Assist in evaluating student progress by administering assignments and recording data.
• Administer first aid and medical assistance when required.
• Support students needing personal care due to medical conditions.
• Attend meetings and convey information about student progress.
• Collaborate with teachers and parents to implement IEP objectives.
• Implement behavioral plans and monitor student behavior.
• Instruct students in activities to reinforce instructional objectives.
• Maintain student records and instructional materials.
• Supervise students to ensure a safe learning environment.
