Offer Description

Responsibilities include

The chair‑holder is to establish and represent the subject of “Structural Analysis for Pharmacy and Chemistry” both in research and teaching, e.g. by the establishment of cryo‑electron microscopy, strengthening of biomolecular X‑ray structural analysis and/or application of biophysical methods (e.g. single molecule spectroscopy). Research should focus on an innovative experimental field of biomacromolecular structural analysis in which the interactions of drugs with their pharmacological targets are investigated.

Close cooperation with the units of the Research Area “Molecular Biosciences” (http://www.uibk.ac.at/cmbi/) and willingness to collaborate with related groups from other local research institutions, as well as with the Research Area “Functional Materials” (https://www.uibk.ac.at/funmat/), is expected. Interdisciplinary work with the fields of pharmacy and chemistry is explicitly desired.

In teaching, the future professor needs to cover the subject area of Structural Analysis for Pharmacy and Chemistry on all three levels of the Bologna System (BSc., MSc., PhD) in the relevant courses of the Faculty of Chemistry and Pharmacy.

Personal involvement in academic administration and self‑governance as well as in the department’s and faculty’s working groups will form another essential duty.
