Zusammenfassung

University of Vienna seeks a Doctoral candidate for a Completion Contract (praedoc) within the Doctoral School of Ecology and Evolution. The role focuses on finishing the dissertation while engaging in teaching, research, and administration at a highly international center in Europe.

You will be employed as a University Assistant (praedoc) for a period of up to four months, with 30 hours per week starting 01.11.2026. A strong track record and English proficiency are essential for success.

Qualifikationen

• Above-average Master degree or equivalent in a field relevant for the position.
• Excellent academic and study record (e.g. FÖP within one year, annual progress reports; outstanding publications).
• High motivation and commitment to complete doctoral studies within the anticipated time frame.
• Excellent command of written and spoken English (C1 Level).
• Collaborative, team-minded and pro-active attitude.
• High level of written and oral communication skills.
• Experience with the structures of the University of Vienna.

Aufgaben

The Doctoral School of Ecology and Evolution (https://vds-ecology-evolution.univie.ac.at/ ) provides a cutting-edge scientific training for doctoral candidates in all fields of Ecology and Evolution studies. It aims at attracting excellent students from all over the world and guides them towards research at the forefront of Ecology and Evolution studies in a vibrant and dynamic community in the heart of Europe.

The Doctoral School offers an up to 4-months Completion Contract open to all PhD-candidates of the VDSEE. This means that you can apply for the completion grant regardless of whether or not you've had a contract with the University of Vienna before. This Completion Contract aims to support a highly qualified fellow in the final phase of their doctoral studies. The recipient will be employed as University Assistants (praedoc).

You actively participate in research, teaching & administration, which means:

• Your main task is to complete and to submit your dissertation.
• You meet and consult with your supervisor(s) on a regular basis in order to priorities your tasks and get the necessary support to complete your dissertation successfully in time.
• You actively seek support (workshops, training, coaching etc.) if necessary.
