The Department at the University of Vienna is the largest academic center covering all fields relating to the German language and German-language literatures. The core areas are Modern German Literature, Medieval German Language and Literature, Germanic Linguistic, German as a Foreign and Second Language, and German Teaching Methodology. In addition, the areas of Gender Studies, Cultural Studies, Media Theory, Literary Theory, and Literature for Children and Young Adults are well established. More than 5000 students are enrolled.
As a university assistant post doc, you will have the opportunity to work at one of the largest departments of German Philology worldwide consisting of an inspiring group of people dedicated to a manifold range of research and academic teaching.
The advertised professorship is affiliated with the field of Modern German Literature, with a particular focus on Literary and Media Theory. Accordingly, in addition to an outstanding doctoral degree in literary studies, candidates are expected to have a Habilitation project situated within the scope of this professorial field.
