Hybrid (up to 40% remote) · AI, Data & Medicine · Interdisciplinary Environment · Vienna
We are building something new at the intersection of software, medical research and clinical care. Our goal is to develop digital technologies that can ultimately improve clinical research and patient care. There are no legacy systems to maintain and no rigid engineering silos. Instead, you will work in a highly interdisciplinary environment where you as software engineer, together with AI researchers, statisticians and physicians develop solutions together. Many of our projects start with a clinical or scientific problem, an idea, or a prototype, and will evolve iteratively into robust digital tools for real-world medical applications.
Our team brings together expertise in statistics, bioinformatics, artificial intelligence, and clinical medicine. We are now looking for a creative, dynamic, full-stack Software Engineer (both frontend- and backend-strong) who enjoys exploring new ideas, experimenting with solutions, and turning them into useful digital applications. We are looking for someone who is excited by innovation and genuinely interested in applying technology to medicine. You will have the opportunity to work closely with clinicians and researchers, understand the problems they face, and help develop solutions that have the potential to benefit patients.
This role is not for someone who only executes tickets. We are looking for someone who wants to build, experiment, and innovate and who is motivated by the clinical purpose behind the technology.
Medicine is generating increasingly sophisticated data and technologies, but turning scientific and technological advances into tools that can actually be used in clinical environments remains a major challenge.
This is where you come in. You will not simply be developing another web application. You will help determine how software engineering, AI, data science, and clinical expertise can work together to solve real problems in medicine. You will not join an established engineering department. You will help shape one.
If you are motivated by innovation, enjoy building things from the ground up, are comfortable with an iterative way of working, and want your engineering skills to have a purpose beyond technology itself, we would be very happy to hear from you.
