At Auto & General, we’re on a mission to safeguard a brighter future for our customers, people and communities. As our Senior Manager Operational Risk, you’ll play a key role in driving a strong risk culture and embedding sound operational risk practices across the organisation.

Reporting to the Head of Operational Risk, you’ll partner with business leaders to strengthen our risk management frameworks, ensure compliance with regulatory obligations, and provide meaningful insights that help shape better business decisions.

You’ll lead a small, high-performing team and work across all divisions to enhance how we identify, assess and manage risk.

Position Accountabilities
  • Lead the ongoing enhancement of the Operational Risk Management Framework and its supporting methodologies, tools and templates.
  • Provide expert advice to leaders and business owners on risk identification, assessment and control effectiveness.
    Support the business in conducting Risk and Control Self-Assessments, root cause analysis, issue management and scenario analysis.
  • Partner with senior stakeholders to embed financial crime policies and ensure consistent risk practices across critical operations.
  • Develop insightful reporting for the Executive and Board that highlights key risk exposures, emerging trends and improvement opportunities.
  • Coordinate and deliver risk training and education initiatives across the Group, working closely with Learning & Development and subject matter experts.
  • Lead the continuous improvement of operational risk modules in the digital risk systems (nLighten) to support better data, insights and decision-making.
  • Support enterprise risk initiatives and cross-functional programs to uplift risk capability across Auto & General.
What experience you’ll bring
  • 7+ years’ experience in operational risk within financial services or insurance.
  • Deep understanding of APRA prudential standards and sound risk governance practices.
  • Proven ability to build and enhance frameworks, policies and processes that drive operational excellence.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills with the confidence to influence at senior levels.
  • Exceptional communication and analytical skills, you can translate complex risk data into clear, actionable insights.
  • Experience leading and developing others, with a collaborative and solutions-focused mindset.
  • A relevant tertiary qualification in business, finance, risk or a related discipline.
