Our Senior Legal Counsel provides strategic and hands‑on legal support across Wilmar Sugar’s Australian and New Zealand operations. Reporting to the General Counsel & Company Secretary, this role is responsible for delivering expert advice across commercial, procurement, property, construction, and corporate compliance matters. Acting as a trusted advisor to senior executives, you will draft and negotiate a diverse range of contracts, manage external legal providers, and support transactional and governance activities at the Group level.

This role is a full‑time office based position, working from our Brisbane CBD office.

Your responsibilities

As our Senior Legal Counsel, you will:

• Draft, review and negotiate commercial, procurement, property, construction and sales contracts
• Provide practical legal advice to business units on commercial, environmental, health & safety and regulatory matters
• Identify, assess and advise on legal and regulatory risk to inform business decision‑making
• Manage external legal advisors, including fee estimates and cost control
• Monitor and communicate relevant legislative changes and recommend required actions
• Support the General Counsel on transactional, governance and compliance matters

About you

As our Senior Legal Counsel, you’ll need:

• Bachelor of Laws (LLB) and admission as a solicitor or legal practitioner in Australia
• Over 8 years post‑admission experience in a large, complex corporate legal team and/or law firm
• Proven ability to work autonomously at a senior level and resolve complex legal issues
• Strong commercial acumen with experience in procurement, property, and construction contracts
• Excellent drafting, negotiation, and communication skills
• Current Australian practising certificate and unrestricted eligibility to work in Australia
