Zusammenfassung

zooplus is seeking an experienced Android Engineer to join the Mobile Apps Team in a hybrid setup across Europe. You will work with Product Owners and Architects to deliver features for our Android apps, integrating partner solutions and driving quality through testing and automation.

As part of a cross-functional team, you will participate in the full SDLC, use modern tools like Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, Hilt, Retrofit, Ktor and CI/CD, and help shape a best-in-class mobile experience for

Qualifikationen

  • 6+ years of Android development with a modern tech stack.
  • Strong Kotlin skills, Coroutines, Flow, Jetpack Compose.
  • Experience with DI (Hilt/Dagger) and REST APIs (Retrofit/Ktor).
  • Proficiency in CI/CD pipelines and testing (JUnit, Espresso).
  • Agile/Scrum experience and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Focus on code quality, scalability and UX.

Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Android Engineer to join our Mobile Apps Team, bring new features to life, and support the evolution of our services and products. You will work closely with the Product Owner, Architect and your team members to clarify business needs and technical requirements and define how to support them best. In close collaboration with other teams, your team will introduce new features and improvements to the mobile apps to provide an even better experience for more than 11 million customers!

As Our Android Engineer
  • With your team and Product Owner, you will work in a stimulating agile environment in close collaboration with other teams.
  • You will participate in the team's technical/architectural discussions and decisions.
  • You will develop and continuously deliver applications for one of Europe's most successful pet e-commerce platforms.
  • You will participate in the complete software development life cycle from discovery through coding, testing, deployment, and maintenance.

You will learn and grow your skills, striving for mastery using state-of-the-art technologies such as Java, Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, and MVVM.

Our primary responsibilities in the Mobile Apps Teams are the iOS and Android apps, including the services that power them. This includes all aspects of the customer journey, from onboarding, personalised home feed, wish list, search, and catalogue to cart and checkout. As a rapidly growing channel, the Mobile Apps are crucial to the company's success.

Your Responsibilities
  • Participate in solution investigation, estimations, planning and alignment with other teams.
  • Designed, implemented, delivered, and supported new features for our Android apps.
  • Work closely with other teams to integrate their solutions into the mobile apps.
  • Promote and implement test automation (e.g., unit tests, integration tests, e2e tests and performance tests)
  • Build and publish new versions of our applications using Jenkins Pipeline and Google Play Store.
  • Work closely with the team in an agile and collaborative environment. This includes code reviews, pair programming, knowledge sharing, and incident coordination.
  • Maintain existing applications and reduce technical debt.
Qualifications

Must have:

  • 6+ years of experience in Android development using modern tech stack:
    • Kotlin (preferred), Coroutines, Flow
    • Jetpack components (Compose, ViewModel, LiveData, Navigation, Room, DataStore)
    • MVVM / Clean Architecture / Modularization
  • Strong experience with Jetpack Compose for building scalable, maintainable UI.
  • Hands-on experience with dependency injection (Hilt / Dagger).
  • Experience integrating REST APIs (Retrofit, Ktor).
  • Solid understanding of app performance optimization (profiling, memory, battery, network).
  • Experience with debugging, monitoring, and observability tools (Crashlytics, Firebase, Logcat, Performance Monitoring).
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Bitrise, Jenkins).
  • Strong knowledge of unit testing, UI testing, and Test-Driven Development (TDD) (JUnit, Mockito, Espresso).
  • Ability to investigate, design, and implement features independently.
  • Product mindset with a strong understanding of user experience and customer needs.
  • Ownership mindset: responsible for code quality, scalability, and maintainability.
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
  • Ability to guide junior developers and clarify requirements.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with cross-functional teams.
Nice To Have
  • Experience with experimentation and product optimization:
    • A/B testing, feature flags (Firebase Remote Config, Adobe Target, Optimisely)
    • Analytics tools (Firebase analytics, Adobe analytics)
  • Experience building global and scalable apps:
    • Localization & internationalization (Lokalise)
    • Multi-module architecture and large-scale app optimization
  • Exposure to modern platform strategies like Kotlin Multiplatform (KMP) or cross-platform approaches
  • Understanding of mobile security best practices like Secure storage, encryption, Play Integrity API
  • Experience with AI-assisted development and modern SDLC tooling:
    • Tools like GitHub Copilot / Copilot Chat
    • Applying AI for code generation, refactoring, test automation, and documentation
    • Using AI to accelerate debugging, prototyping, and architectural decisions
