Octapharma Pharmazeutika Produktionsges.m.b.H. in Wien seeks a temporary R&D professional to develop and optimize production processes for plasma proteins and to establish analytical methods for process and product characterization.

You will collaborate with CROs, universities and internal production, QC and regulatory teams, plan and document GMP‑compliant experiments, and support inquiries while preparing technical reports and mentoring lab staff.

Qualificações

• Completed degree in natural science (Master or PhD).
• Experience in protein purification and analytical method development.
• Knowledge of protein labeling is a plus.
• Experience in blood plasma/diagnostic industry is a plus.
• Strong communication and project management skills.
• Fluent German and proficient English (spoken and written).

Your Main Tasks And Responsibilities

• Development and optimization of production processes for the manufacture of blood plasma proteins for medical applications


• Establishment and application of analytical test methods for process and product characterization


• Close collaboration with external partners (e.g., CROs, universities) and internal interfaces (Production, Quality Control, Regulatory Affairs)


• Planning, execution, evaluation, and GMP‑compliant documentation of laboratory experiments


• Support for scientific inquiries and regulatory and customer-related questions


• Preparation of technical and scientific documents (instructions, study reports, publications) and presentation of results


• Technical guidance and supervision of laboratory technicians

Your expertise and ideal skill set

• Completed degree in natural science, such as chemistry, pharmacy, or biochemistry (Master or PhD)


• Knowledge in protein purification and the development of analytical methods


• Familiarity with (radioactive) labelling of proteins is an advantage


• Professional experience in the blood plasma or diagnostic industry is a plus


• Strong communication and project management skills, analytical thinking, and problem‑solving ability


• High level of commitment, perseverance and a structured way of working


• Confident use of Microsoft 365 and ideally electronic laboratory systems (e.g., LIMS)


• Fluent in German and highly proficient in English, both spoken and written
