Job summary

IIASA in Laxenburg, Austria, invites applications for a one-year, full-time researcher to develop a country case study on education and human capital in Rwanda. The role combines demography, economics, statistics, and education to analyze data and apply quantitative methods within an interdisciplinary team.

You will collaborate with SALDRU/UCT and partners, travel for project meetings, and aim to produce peer-reviewed outputs including publications, conference papers, and technical reports,

Qualifications

• PhD in economics, statistics, demography, or related field (final stage or completed).
• Strong background in econometrics and quantitative methods.
• Experience with large-scale survey or administrative data.
• Fluent English; proficiency in Kinyarwanda is a plus.
• Ability to work independently in international teams.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to a country case study on education and human capital in Rwanda.
• Analyze and harmonize demographic, educational, and socioeconomic data.
• Apply statistical and quantitative methods to study outcomes.
• Contribute to multidimensional demographic analyses and projections.
• Interpret findings for policy relevance in sustainable development.
• Collaborate with IIASA, SALDRU/UCT and partners.
