Job Description

You will join this role on a 12-month contract to support the delivery of efficient, accurate and timely month end closes, reporting, forecasting and budgeting to senior management and the Board on a monthly, half‑yearly and annual basis (including IR reporting). You will lead finance business partnering with the Property, Engineering and Construction teams supporting commercial and strategic decision making.

Key responsibilities
  • Manage the on‑time and accurate delivery of Retail monthly, half‑year and annual financial reports, monthly forecasting and weekly trade reporting.
  • Lead finance business partnering with the Engineering (FMG) and Construction teams supporting commercial and strategic decision making.
  • Partner with the Property team to provide financial modelling and support for property decisions.
  • Lead capital management of the Retail business including approval governance and forecasting.
  • Deliver accurate and timely budgets.
  • Ownership of the Retail general ledger financial recording and reporting structure, in conjunction with Group Finance.
  • Lead financial governance by maintaining Ampol Accounting Policies, Ampol accounting processes in conjunction with Group Finance.
  • Develop and drive continuous improvement in the reporting team’s process to meet the evolving needs of the business.
  • Analysis and interpretation of data, identification of issues/trends and implementation of corrective actions.
  • Stewardship of site‑by‑site impairment assessment and retail remediation provisions.
  • Engagement with external auditors as part of half‑year and full‑year reporting.
  • Interface with Investor Relations and Group Accounting to satisfy external reporting requirements.
  • Active role in talent management and team development of direct reports and other Retail Finance team members.
Qualifications

You will have advanced accounting knowledge and technical skills, including asset impairment and complex provisioning. You will have a proven track record of operating in a complex environment and achieving positive outcomes.

Key skills and experience
  • Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Business or Finance related discipline.
  • CA/CPA qualification.
  • Extensive experience post qualification in accounting/reporting‑based roles.
  • Experience either from Big 4 or in leading financial reporting functions in an ASX listed company.
  • Advanced ability to apply accounting technical skills in a commercial and practical manner.
  • Demonstrated track record in dealing with complex accounting transactions and problem solving.
  • Proven leadership capabilities, including coaching and team building for a professional finance team.
  • Demonstrated ability to initiate and successfully implement change and continuous improvement.
  • Proven track record of delivering above expectations in fast‑moving, complex environments aware of short‑ and long‑term commercial implications of decisions.
