Jobbeschreibung

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Project Risk Manager - EMEA based in Switzerland.

Lead risk management across a complex EMEA project portfolio supporting the delivery of large-scale AI infrastructure.
You will establish consistent risk governance while providing hands‑on expertise across project, portfolio, commercial, cost, and schedule risk.
Working alongside project directors, engineers, procurement, construction, commissioning, and operations teams, you will help make uncertainty visible and actionable.
You will lead qualitative and quantitative risk analysis, including Monte Carlo simulations, schedule risk analysis, scenario modelling, and contingency assessment.
The role combines independent assurance with close business partnership, giving you influence over major project and investment decisions.
You will identify systemic and correlated risks across the regional portfolio and translate complex analysis into clear recommendations for senior leadership.
This is a high‑impact opportunity for an experienced risk professional who thrives in fast‑paced, technically complex, and rapidly scaling infrastructure environments.

Accountabilities
  • Lead the regional project risk management programme across the EMEA portfolio, establishing consistent governance, standards, processes, methodologies, and escalation requirements.

  • Embed risk management throughout the project lifecycle and across Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Project Controls, Commercial, Commissioning, and Operations Readiness.

  • Provide independent risk oversight and constructive challenge to project and functional leadership, ensuring significant risks and opportunities receive appropriate attention.

  • Promote a proactive risk culture based on early identification, clear ownership, accountability, timely escalation, and risk‑informed decision‑making.

  • Act as the regional subject matter expert and trusted adviser on project and portfolio risk for project, regional, and executive leadership.

  • Lead the identification, assessment, mitigation, monitoring, escalation, and closure of project risks and opportunities.

  • Build, maintain, and oversee project risk registers, ensuring material risks have clear owners, mitigation strategies, action plans, residual assessments, and escalation paths.

  • Assess delivery risks across design, permitting, grid connection, procurement, long‑lead equipment, construction, commercial and contractual performance, commissioning, energisation, and capacity delivery.

  • Consolidate project‑level risks at regional level to identify emerging, systemic, correlated, and concentration risks requiring portfolio‑wide action.

  • Promote the identification and realization of opportunities relating to cost, schedule, standardisation, procurement, constructability, and overall project execution.

  • Lead qualitative and quantitative cost and schedule risk analysis, including Monte Carlo simulation, Schedule Risk Analysis (SRA), scenario analysis, and other probabilistic techniques.

  • Assess cost exposure, schedule uncertainty, critical‑path risks, key milestones, and confidence in achieving committed delivery and ready‑for‑service dates.

  • Develop risk‑based recommendations for project contingency and management reserves and support governance over their utilization and release.

  • Analyse regional risk drivers, correlations, scenarios, and sensitivities to identify potential portfolio impacts and mitigation priorities.

  • Provide risk analysis and recommendations for investment decisions, stage gates, baseline approvals, major contract awards, and other significant project decisions.

  • Produce concise project and regional reporting covering top risks and opportunities, emerging exposures, trends, mitigation effectiveness, contingency status, and matters requiring escalation.

  • Develop risk dashboards and analytics that provide visibility into exposure, trends, concentrations, and confidence across cost, schedule, commissioning, and capacity commitments.

  • Monitor mitigation progress, overdue actions, changes in exposure, realised risks, and significant issues requiring project, regional, or executive attention.

  • Conduct periodic project risk reviews and health checks to assess the quality and effectiveness of risk identification, analysis, mitigation, reporting, and governance.

  • Independently test project assumptions, forecasts, contingency requirements, mitigation strategies, and confidence levels to ensure material exposures are understood and communicated appropriately.

  • Identify recurring risks, systemic weaknesses, successful mitigation strategies, and lessons learned across projects and incorporate them into future delivery approaches.

  • Drive continuous improvement across risk processes, methodologies, tools, analytics, reporting, and organisational risk capability.

Requirements
  • Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, Business, Finance, or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant industry experience.

  • Significant professional experience in risk management, project controls, or project delivery within complex EPC, construction, infrastructure, energy, mission‑critical, or major capital programmes.

  • Demonstrated experience leading project and portfolio risk management, including identification, assessment, mitigation, monitoring, escalation, and assurance.

  • Strong understanding of cost, schedule, contingency, and project controls principles and how they integrate with project risk management.

  • Advanced experience applying quantitative risk analysis and probabilistic techniques to assess project cost and schedule uncertainty.

  • Strong hands‑on experience with Monte Carlo simulation, cost and schedule risk analysis, scenario analysis, and risk‑based contingency development.

  • Strong understanding of EPC contracting, procurement, supply chain, change management, claims, and commercial risk.

  • Proven ability to influence and constructively challenge senior project and functional leaders in complex, fast‑moving environments.

  • Excellent written, verbal, facilitation, and executive communication skills, with the ability to translate complex risk information into clear business insights and recommended actions.

  • Ability to identify systemic and correlated risks across multiple projects and provide regional‑level insight to support management decisions.

  • Experience delivering hyperscale, AI, mission‑critical, or large‑scale data centre programmes is advantageous.

  • Familiarity with power, cooling, grid connections, long‑lead equipment, commissioning, and capacity delivery is a plus.

  • Experience with enterprise or project risk management platforms and their integration with scheduling, cost management, and reporting systems is beneficial.

  • Relevant professional certification such as PMI‑RMP, PMP, APM PMQ or ChPP, AACE International, IRM, or an equivalent risk or project management credential is advantageous.

  • Working knowledge of recognised risk management frameworks, including ISO 31000 and PMBOK, with familiarity with standards such as ISO 9001, ISO 45001, and ISO 14001.

  • Experience presenting portfolio risk, contingency, schedule confidence, and emerging exposures to executive leadership or governance committees.

  • Experience with @Risk, Riskonnect, Safran, or comparable industry‑standard risk management tools is a plus.

  • Strong analytical thinking, sound judgement, stakeholder management, and problem‑solving skills.

Benefits
  • Competitive salary based on the scope and value of the role rather than previous compensation.

  • Equity opportunity, allowing eligible employees to participate in the organisation's long‑term growth.

  • Discretionary bonus opportunity.

  • Retirement or pension contributions.

  • Comprehensive health, wellbeing, and insurance benefits.

  • Generous annual vacation allowance.

  • Fully remote working environment within Europe.

  • Opportunity to work on large‑scale AI infrastructure and major capital projects.

  • High‑impact role with significant exposure to regional and executive‑level decision‑making.

  • Collaborative environment focused on professional development, trust, autonomy, and sustainable work‑life balance.

  • Opportunity to contribute to the development of risk management practices across a rapidly scaling international infrastructure portfolio.
