Veterinärmedizinische Universität Wien seeks a First Stage Researcher for a PhD track in Veterinary Medicine. The role includes clinical duties, diagnostics, and specialist development in internal medicine with emergency care, plus teaching and administration.

Rotations through Central A&E and on-call duties are required, with German (C1) and English (B2) language proficiency. This 20 h/week position starts mid-October 2026 and is site-bound in Austria.

Competenze

• Completed degree in veterinary medicine (Diploma or Bachelor’s plus Master’s totalling 300 ECTS).
• Rotating internship in small animal medicine or equivalent postgraduate clinical experience, particularly in emergency medicine, neurology, or small mammals.
• Very good written and spoken German (C1).
• Good English (B2).

• Contributing to the running of the clinic, including weekend and night shifts and on-call duties.
• Diagnostic assessment of complex cases under the supervision of specialists.
• Specialist development in small animal medicine, emergency and intensive care medicine.
