Job summary

The University of Vienna invites applications for a University Assistant (postdoc) in the Department of Government. The position starts 1 February 2027, is limited to three years, and is based in Vienna. 40 hours per week, classification CBA: §48 VwGr. B1 lit.

Qualifications

• Own research agenda on political representation, party competition, political institutions or related fields.
• Excellent command of written and spoken English; German desirable.
• Ability to teach BA/MA courses in comparative politics.
• Strong knowledge of social science methods for data collection and analysis.
• Internationally visible publication record or advanced manuscripts.

Responsibilities

• Develop and strengthen an independent research profile with publications.
• Present work internationally and contribute to teaching and administration.
• Teach courses independently per the university’s collective bargaining agreement.
• Supervise BA and MA students and participate in quality assurance activities.
• Engage in collaborative interdisciplinary research projects.
