A growing Australian food manufacturing business (with sizable scale already) is seeking an experienced Operations & Manufacturing Manager to lead production, warehousing and maintenance across two Melbourne manufacturing sites. This role suits someone who thrives on lifting capability, driving efficiency and building strong operational foundations.

About the Role

Reporting to the COO, you will oversee the performance, safety and continuous improvement of two manufacturing sites. You’ll lead site teams, embed best-practice processes and strengthen the systems and behaviours needed for ongoing growth.

This role requires strong food manufacturing expertise and the ability to connect strategic planning with practical, reliable operational execution.

Key Responsibilities

Lead production, maintenance and warehousing teams

Increase manufacturing efficiency using KPIs, OEE insights, MEX and lean practices

Implement and sustain a preventative maintenance program that improves reliability and reduces downtime

Optimise labour, workflow, scheduling and production planning

Improve warehousing processes and logistics flow within each site

Partner with the Quality Manager to maintain operational discipline around HACCP, SQF and audit readiness

Drive continuous improvement across safety, quality and productivity

Build frontline leader capability and embed behavioural safety, accountability and team engagement

Translate strategic plans into clear operational outcomes

Lead collaboration with stakeholders and trades on site upgrades and Capex projects.

About You

Extensive experience in food or beverage manufacturing

Demonstrated leadership across multi-site operations

Strong capability in production efficiency and lean methodologies

Experience establishing or improving preventative maintenance systems (MEX or similar)

Solid understanding of HACCP/SQF and food safety compliance

Commercial acumen and budget management capability

Strong communication, influence and stakeholder management skills

A calm, steady leadership style with a focus on capability building and continuous improvement

Able to connect strategic direction with day-to-day execution.
