A community-focused early intervention organization in Austria is seeking a part-time Occupational Therapist to provide individualized transdisciplinary intervention and support children's inclusion in community settings. EarlyEd is a dynamic and innovative organisation committed to delivering services that reflect best practice developments in the disability, allied health and early childhood intervention sectors.
Services are delivered based on the child's and families' needs at home, early childhood centres, schools, our EarlyEd centres and at community programs.
EarlyEd has been operational under the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) but also attracts other funding from other government departments and grants.
Established for over 45 years EarlyEd and has two main offices with centres across the Northern and Western Sydney areas. Staff are based in Northern and Western Sydney from centres at North Sydney and Forestville, Merrylands and Kingswood. This reduces travel time for staff and builds local community connections.
EarlyEd is looking for part time occupational therapists.
In this role, the OT will utilise their knowledge of paediatric occupational therapy intervention, child development, family centred practice and mainstream activities to:
Provide individualised transdisciplinary early intervention to manage issues that may impact learning, behaviour, motor, sensory processing and the achieving of developmental milestones i.e. enhancing a child's independence, self‑care, play and social skills.
Support the inclusion of children into community settings including early childhood settings, community activities and schools
Select,implementand monitor assistive technology and mobility equipment prescription.
EarlyEd recognises that some applicants may have limited paediatric or disability experience.
EarlyEd’s transdisciplinary approach includes the key worker role as part of team around each child and family. EarlyEd teams include educators, speech pathologists, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, family support workers and program assistants.
Approved qualification in Occupational Therapy
Current registration with AHPRA
Eligibility for membership of OT Australia
Commitment to family centred practice
Highly developed interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
Current driver's licence and access to a car.
You will need or be willing to obtain a Working with Children Check and NDIS Worker Screening Check
Experience in:
Supportinginfants, young children with delays/disabilities and their families
Adapting home, play and learning environments as well prescribing and implementing adaptive equipment
Including children in mainstream early childhood services and school settings as well as community, sport and recreation opportunities
Positive behaviour supports and the development of behaviour management plans across home and community settings.
Working with CALD, ATSI and vulnerable families
Leadership and management
Community capacity building and training
