A rapidly growing, globally recognised digital assets and financial services business is expanding its regulated European operations and is seeking an experienced MiFID Compliance Officer to join its Vienna-based team.
This is a key regulatory role with responsibility for supporting the development and ongoing management of the firm's investment services compliance framework in Austria and across its European operations.
You will act as a subject matter expert on MiFID II, the Austrian Securities Supervision Act 2018 (WAG 2018) and related European capital markets regulation. Working closely with senior stakeholders across the business, you will translate complex regulatory requirements into practical policies, procedures and controls, while providing clear and commercially focused compliance advice.
This is an opportunity to join a high-growth international business at an important stage of its European regulatory development, with genuine exposure to senior management and the opportunity to have a direct impact on the evolution of the firm's compliance framework.
Key Responsibilities
- Establish, maintain and continuously enhance a robust compliance framework in line with MiFID II, WAG 2018 and applicable European regulatory requirements.
- Draft, implement and maintain internal compliance policies, procedures, controls and related documentation.
- Act as the subject matter expert for investment services and activities, providing regulatory advice and guidance to internal stakeholders.
- Advise senior management and relevant business functions on the regulatory implications of new products, services, processes and business initiatives.
- Monitor regulatory developments across European capital markets and assess their impact on the business.
- Translate regulatory requirements into clear, practical and proportionate internal frameworks and controls.
- Prepare high-quality compliance reports and regulatory updates for senior management and Board-level stakeholders.
- Support and oversee the firm's complaints handling framework, ensuring processes remain aligned with regulatory requirements and internal standards.
- Work collaboratively with Legal, Risk, Operations, Product and other relevant functions to ensure effective implementation of regulatory requirements.
- Contribute to the ongoing development and maturity of the firm's broader European compliance framework.
What We're Looking For

- University degree in Law, ideally combined with a relevant professional legal or regulatory qualification.
- 5+ years' relevant compliance experience gained within an investment firm, capital markets division of a bank, reputable law firm, regulator or comparable regulated financial institution.
- Strong practical experience with MiFID II and WAG 2018, including investment services and activities.
- Proven experience drafting, implementing and maintaining compliance policies, procedures and controls.
- Experience establishing, developing or managing a MiFID-related compliance framework is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of the broader European regulatory environment applicable to investment services and capital markets.
Stakeholder & Communication Skills
- Comfortable advising senior management on complex regulatory matters.
- Able to communicate sophisticated regulatory requirements clearly and practically to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong judgement and the ability to balance regulatory requirements with commercial considerations.
- Highly organised, detail-oriented and capable of operating effectively in a fast-moving international environment.
- Experience working across multiple jurisdictions or within an international organisation would be advantageous.
Languages
- Fluent German and English are essential, both written and spoken.
- The ability to communicate complex regulatory concepts confidently in both languages is required.
Why Join?
- Join a high-growth international financial services and digital assets business during an important phase of its European expansion.
- Take ownership of a meaningful MiFID II / WAG 2018 compliance remit rather than operating solely within a mature, established framework.
- Work closely with senior leadership and have direct visibility across the wider European business.
- Operate in an international, highly collaborative environment with colleagues across multiple global markets.
- Gain exposure to the intersection of traditional financial markets, regulated investment services and digital assets.
- Opportunity to play a significant role in shaping and strengthening the firm's European regulatory infrastructure.
