Zusammenfassung

Mercury is seeking a highly experienced Mechanical Engineer for our Vienna, Austria site. The role focuses on leading the mechanical team, coordinating with civil, electrical, and subcontractor resources to successfully install and commission complex HVAC and mechanical systems in data centres.

The candidate should have a 10+ year track record, Data Centre background, and strong planning, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.

Qualifikationen

  • Requires a degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering or Industrial Engineering.
  • 10+ years’ experience in a similar role.
  • Data Centre experience is required.
  • Excellent organisational and planning skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Excellent negotiation, problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Proficient in systems software related to Engineering functions.
  • Excellent IT skills.
  • Ability to manage workload and prioritise.
  • Excellent communication in English and Spanish.

Aufgaben

  • Prepare and assign work schedules to the mechanical team and subcontractors.
  • Plan and schedule daily work.
  • Supervise and motivate team members.
  • Ensure proper handling of mechanical materials and equipment during installation stages.
  • Maintain safety standards and adhereto to codes and permits to work.
  • Supervise installation of mechanical equipment (e.g., chillers, AHU, pumps).
  • Coordinate with contractors to execute works and daily follow-up.
  • Review procedures and suggest improvements.
  • Coordinate with on-site personnel from civil and electrical teams to avoid clashes.
  • Respond to major issues to senior management.

Mechanical Engineer, Vienna, Austria
Key Responsibilities
  • Preparing and assigning work schedules to the mechanical team and subcontractors
  • Plan and schedule daily work
  • Supervising and motivating team members
  • Ensuring proper handling of mechanical materials and equipment during the installation stages
  • Maintaining safety standards and adhering to mechanical codes and permits to work
  • Supervision of the installation of all the mechanical equipment that will be installed in the site, like chillers, AHU, pumps or any other mechanical systems
  • Experience with HVAC, cooling system, firefighting, plumbing
  • Experience with Data Centre redundancy connection
  • Control and keep track of scope changes, engineering changes and any other changes, non-conformities and technical queries
  • Reviewing work procedures, method statement and suggesting improvement measures
  • Coordinate with the different contractors the execution of the works, interferences and daily follow-up
  • Hiring, training, and evaluating performances of new employees
  • Coordinating with on‑site personnel from the different departments (civil, electrical) to ensure proper workflow and avoid clashes
  • Supervising on‑site mechanical operations and reporting any major issues to the senior management
  • Coordinating with the on‑site Mechanical Engineer/Mechanical Lead to review any design requirements
Essential Criteria
  • Degree Mechanical Engineer or Industrial Engineer experience is required
  • 10+ years’ experience in a similar role
  • Data Centre previous experience required
  • Excellent organisational and planning skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Excellent negotiation, problem solving and decision‑making skills
  • Proficient in use of systems software related to Engineering functions
  • Excellent IT skills
  • Ability to manage workload and prioritise
  • Excellent communication skills in both Spanish and English
  • Ability to work on own initiative
