Job summary

Andritz AG in Graz seeks a Material Expert (m/f/d) to support material consultancy, failure analysis, and development of thermodynamic simulations within the Group Quality & Safety Management. The role location is Graz or any Andritz office in Europe, with travel up to 30%.

You hold a Master’s in Materials or Metallurgy (PhD preferred), have experience in alloy design, and can work across disciplines with strong English and German skills.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Material Science or Metallurgy.
• Experience in alloy design and steel/metallic materials manufacturing processes.
• Experience in thermodynamic simulation.
• Willingness to travel up to 30%.
• Strong English and German language skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide material-related guidance for engineering and design teams as well as project and product managers.
• Material consultation for metallic materials and their manufacturing processes.
• Material selection for components and systems based on operational requirements.
• Evaluate material properties and performance in real applications.
• Conduct material failure analyses to determine root causes and propose mitigations.
• Support quality engineers in issuing technical delivery rules and dealing with non-conformities.
• Develop thermodynamic simulation competence within the group and support material development.
• Plan and execute material projects in alignment with R&D and engineering managers.
• Collaborate with national and international material research and testing institutes.
• FMEA moderation training and eventual moderation for project profiles.
• Promote communication of the center's impact; prepare best practices and success stories.
