The Role

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Manager Financial Accounting & Fleet to provide exemplary service by providing expert financial accounting advice and guidance whilst enhancing and protecting the financial and governance goals of the organisation.

You will manage a small, high-performing team and work closely with internal stakeholders, auditors, and external partners to deliver accurate financial results and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Financial Accounting Expertise – act as the organisation’s centre of expertise for technical accounting advice, providing guidance to support sound financial decision-making.
  • Statutory Reporting & Compliance – lead the preparation of annual financial statements and disclosures, coordinate external audits (Victorian Auditor General’s Office), ensure adherence to accounting standards and policies, and manage whole-of-government reporting requirements.
  • Asset & Valuation Management – oversee the fixed asset register, ensure data accuracy, monitor depreciation and capital expenditure, and partner with teams on project WIP and asset revaluations.
  • Process Improvement & Business Partnering – collaborate across the business to enhance reporting processes, strengthen balance sheet controls, and leverage technology to improve efficiency and reporting quality.
What we’re looking for
  • Qualified accountant with strong technical accounting expertise.
  • Proven experience in financial accounting or statutory reporting.
  • Solid understanding of accounting standards and external reporting frameworks.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to manage and develop a small team.
  • High attention to detail and strong analytical, data analysis problem-solving, and organisational skills.
