Volunteer Position: Grant Writer / Fundraising Volunteer

Organization: Stitching Empowerment Verein (SEVA)

Location: Remote or In-Person in Vienna, Austria

Commitment: 5-10 hours per week

About SEVA:

SEVA empowers women and marginalized groups through crochet and other forms of handcrafts, combining creative skill‑building with community development and economic opportunity. Our programs provide hands‑on workshops, mentorship, and networking that help women build confidence, independence, and connection. In addition, SEVA focuses on capacity‑building and skills development through trainings focusing on women empowerment and gender equality.

Volunteer Role Description:

SEVA is seeking dedicated volunteers to support our fundraising and grant‑writing efforts. The ideal candidate is proactive, detail‑oriented, and passionate about women’s empowerment and/or international development. This position is a unique opportunity to contribute to the growth of a nonprofit while gaining hands‑on experience in development and fundraising.

Responsibilities:

• Research potential funding sources, including foundations, corporate sponsors, government programs and regional institutions
• Draft grant proposals, letters of inquiry, and supporting documents
• Assist with donor communications and reporting as needed
• Support broader fundraising initiatives, including campaigns and outreach

Qualifications:

• Experience in grant writing or fundraising for nonprofit organizations
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
• Passion for women’s empowerment, community development, and creative skill‑building
• Familiarity with nonprofit fundraising tools and platforms is a plus
