General Operations & Human Resources Manager

The Nurse Midwife Health Program Australia (NMHPA) is dedicated to improving the health and wellbeing of nurses, midwives, and students of these professions by offering a free, confidential, and compassionate peer‑to‑peer counselling and health support service. With a vision of better health for healthcare workers and safer care for the public, NMHPA operates nationally via face‑to‑face, telehealth, and telephone consultations from various locations across Australia. Funded by the Commonwealth Department of Health, Disability and Ageing, NMHPA is a key pillar in supporting the nursing and midwifery workforce.

About the Role

NMHPA is recruiting for a part time (0.8, Tuesday - Friday) General Operations & Human Resources Manager.

This newly established position reports directly to the CEO and will oversee the administration team along with a broad range of operational and HR support functions. Key areas of responsibility include human resources, workplace health and safety, building and property management, service and supplier agreements, IT support, records management, and overseeing general administrative operations.

What We’re Looking For

Tertiary qualifications in HR, general business, administration or equivalent preferred. HR qualification is an advantage.

Demonstrated professional experience and skills managing a range of head office support functions.

Demonstrated experience effectively overseeing and implementing core organisational HR programmes including recruitment, staff orientation, performance management, and staff training.

Demonstrated proficiency in managing workplace health and safety throughout an entire organisation.

Working understanding of the not‑for‑profit sector.

Ability to manage, lead, and motivate an effective small team of administrative staff.

Sound knowledge of business risks, safety, compliance, and policy processes with demonstrated ability to develop and implement frameworks that support best practice.

Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to negotiate, influence, and resolve conflicts effectively.

Demonstrated capacity to build positive relationships and liaise confidently with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
