Our client is a family-owned Melbourne based company based in Campbellfield with a rich 30-year history providing excellence in conveyor systems and solutions.

They specialize in the custom design and manufacture of advanced material handling systems and equipment for the food and beverage industry, utilizing the latest technology and design techniques.

With rapid growth in recent times, and a global footprint, an offshore Asian manufacturing plant to complement their Campbellfield operations, they are the preferred manufacturer, fabricator and solutions provider to the food and beverage industries and packaging & palletising sectors.

They provide guaranteed solutions to enhance operating systems by improving efficiency, reducing costs and downtime with simplifying methods and increasing output through years of building intellectual property and know-how.

About the Role

We’re looking for a dynamic, results-focused General Manager to take charge of our material handling systems manufacturing operations and lead the business into its next phase of growth. This role is pivotal in driving operational excellence, and innovation across all facets of the business—from engineering and production to sales, finance and customer service.

Lead strategic growth and daily operations while fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement. Drive efficiency through lean manufacturing and cost control, while mentoring cross‑functional teams. Champion conscious improvement by encouraging regular performance appraisals, feedback, and development from a people‑first perspective to elevate team engagement and business outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute long‑term business strategies aligned with company goals.
  • Drive strategic growth and lead expansion initiatives.
  • Oversee daily operations including manufacturing, logistics, finance and quality assurance.
  • Implement lean manufacturing principles to optimise efficiency and reduce waste.
  • Oversee the finance team with their development of budgets, forecasts, and financial performance.
  • Drive profitability through cost control and revenue growth.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop cross‑functional teams.
  • Champion team development through regular performance appraisals, feedback, and growth plans that align with business goals.
  • Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and partners.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction through timely delivery and high‑quality products.
  • Ensure adherence to industry standards, safety regulations, and company policies.
  • Mitigate operational risks through proactive planning and oversight.
Skills & Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or related field (MBA preferred).
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in manufacturing in either FMCG, conveyor systems, industrial automation, robotics or like industries.
  • Proven experience in senior leadership roles within manufacturing or industrial sectors.
  • Demonstrated success in driving growth and operational excellence.
  • Proven leadership experience in managing large teams and complex operations.
  • Strong financial acumen and strategic thinking.
  • Customer‑focused mindset with a commitment to quality and timely delivery.
  • Expertise in lean manufacturing and process optimisation.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and team mentoring skills.
  • Familiarity with ERP and workflow systems software and lean methodologies.
  • Proficient in Microsoft suite of products.
