A respected construction firm in Australia is seeking an experienced commercial advisor with strong construction law expertise. In this role, you will impart legal knowledge, engage with leadership, and shape strategic decisions. Ideal candidates will have 5-7 years of experience and a passion for teaching and guiding others in a collaborative environment. The role offers autonomy and the chance to influence business outcomes significantly.
Highly competitive salary + onsite parking
Step into an autonomous role where you become the trusted commercial advisor imparting knowledge and legal insight to a construction business to understand and manage risk.
As a privately‑owned business with over 1,200 employees and eight offices across Queensland, NSW and the Northern Territory, you'll experience the best of both worlds: the resources and project diversity of a substantial organisation, combined with the agility and relationship‑focused culture of a private business. The company's strong financial position and growing project pipeline means you're joining a stable business with growth ahead.
You'll join a respected contractor with a 50-year reputation focused on quality delivery and strong relationships, not aggressive litigation. You will spend your time on front‑end construction law, helping the business win and deliver projects successfully, alleviating potential risks rather than being buried in disputes. The company's deliberate approach to growth and strong repeat client base creates an environment where prevention truly is better than cure.
You're an experienced construction lawyer wanting meaningful commercial impact. You get energised by teaching others and seeing them apply what you've taught. You have the commercial judgment to prioritise what truly matters, the commercial nous to bring practical solutions to the table, and the communication skills to make complex legal concepts accessible.
You're naturally approachable and enjoy building relationships across different parts of a business. You're solution‑focused, pragmatic, and motivated by helping a business succeed, not just ensuring legal perfection. You probably have anywhere between 5‑7 years’ experience PAE.
If you've been curious about roles such as Construction Lawyer, Commercial Counsel, General Counsel, Corporate Counsel, In‑House Legal Counsel, or Senior Legal Advisor in the construction sector, we would love to hear from you.
We're looking for someone who's ready to make this career move into strategic advisory and coaching, but we know you might not tick every single box. If this role resonates with you and you have strong construction law experience combined with commercial judgment and a passion for developing others, please submit your application.
