With 10,000 students and over 3,000 staff members, BOKU is one of Europe’s leading life science universities.
The Department of Landscape, Water and Infrastructure (LAWI, https://boku.ac.at/en/lawi ) stands for interdisciplinary and sustainable research and teaching focused on the design of resilient living environments and the responsible use of resources. By integrating engineering, natural, planning, and social sciences, the department develops innovative solutions for climate change, biodiversity, natural hazards, as well as sustainable infrastructure and circular systems.
A particular focus of the professorship at the Institute of Structural Engineering lies on structural detailing and the practical implementation of sustainable infrastructure structures, such as bridges, tunnels, protective structures, shells, and containment structures, taking into account digital planning processes, artificial intelligence, and resource-efficient, circular construction materials and methods.
The candidate shall take a leading role in the design, modelling, and cross-material structural design of engineering structures using innovative, conventional and recycled construction materials as well as circular-compatible connection and fastening systems.
The objective is the innovative development of new infrastructure solutions as well as the sustainable upgrading and further development of existing structures. The approach combines structural design with cross-material system solutions for infrastructure systems with long service lives.
