With a strong reputation for quality, innovation and trauma‑informed practice, UMFC is committed to delivering safe, inclusive and impactful services that strengthen community wellbeing.

We are entering an exciting period of organisational transformation and strategic growth, and we are seeking an outstanding Executive Director to lead our Finance and Strategy Services portfolio.

About the Role

The Executive Director, Finance and Strategy is a key member of the Executive Team, responsible for shaping UMFC’s long‑term financial sustainability, strategic direction and organisational capability. The role provides organisation‑wide leadership across business strategy, financial governance, operational services and stakeholder engagement. It drives the development and execution of strategies that advance UMFC’s long‑term vision, identifying new revenue opportunities, building strategic partnerships and leading transformation initiatives that enhance efficiency, adaptability and service outcomes. A core part of the role is translating strategic priorities into actionable business plans, fostering organisational resilience and ensuring that change is implemented effectively and sustainably across the organisation.

The role also oversees UMFC’s financial management, budgeting, forecasting, reporting and risk oversight, ensuring compliance with regulatory, audit and funding requirements while promoting a culture of financial accountability. It provides executive leadership across organisational services, business continuity and operational performance, ensuring these functions effectively support frontline programmes and contribute to a safe, inclusive and high‑performing workplace. As a senior leader, you will mentor managers, contribute to Executive Team decision–making, build strong relationships with government and sector stakeholders, and champion ethical leadership, child safety, trauma‑informed practice, continuous improvement and organisational learning. This role is ideal for a seasoned executive leader who thrives in complex environments, brings strong financial and strategic expertise, and is passionate about community impact.

  • Executive influence with a direct impact on community outcomes
  • Flexible work arrangements to support work‑life balance
  • 4 weeks annual leave (pro‑rata) plus 1 week health and wellbeing leave (pro‑rata)
  • An organisation committed to the Sanctuary Model, a trauma‑informed, healing‑focused approach to service delivery and workplace culture.

About you

You are an influential, strategic and values‑driven leader with deep financial and organisational expertise, complemented by a strong understanding of the community sector and a genuine commitment to improving outcomes for children, families and communities.

As the next Executive Director of Finance and Strategy, you will:

  • Bring extensive executive experience within not‑for‑profit or similarly complex environments, with a proven track record in strategic planning, financial leadership and organisational transformation.
  • Demonstrate expertise in complex change management, stakeholder alignment and outcomes evaluation, with strong capability in interpreting financial, regulatory and legal information to support strategy.
  • Hold a strong understanding of community services governance, funding models and compliance obligations, including knowledge of child safety standards.
  • Be an exceptional communicator, able to confidently engage with the Board, executives, staff and external stakeholders, building trusted relationships and influencing strategic direction.
  • Bring high‑level analytical and decision‑making capability, operating effectively in dynamic environments with a proven ability to lead, develop and inspire high‑performing teams.
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to diversity, inclusion, wellbeing and safe practice.
  • Hold tertiary qualifications in business, finance or management, with postgraduate studies and CPA/CA or governance credentials highly regarded.
  • Deliver measurable results through financial sustainability, successful transformation initiatives, strengthened partnerships, improved operational efficiency and clearer alignment between operational services and client outcomes.

After submitting your resume, you will receive an email with a link to complete the screening questions. These must be completed for your application to progress.

Applications close on 10 December 2025.
