Job summary

Louisiana State University is seeking a Diagnostic Laboratory Specialist for the Endocrinology section within LSU Diagnostics. The role involves bench-level testing, data recording, and reporting results to submitters and regulatory bodies.

The incumbent handles clinical specimens across animal species and maintains laboratory quality and SOP adherence. The position requires a Bachelor’s degree with at least three years of related experience; Master’s degree and diagnostic lab medicine

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and 3 years of related experience.
• Preferred: Master’s degree in biological sciences or related field and 3+ years in diagnostic lab medicine.
• Requires ability to work with supervision and independently per SOPs and QA standards.

Responsibilities

• Functions as the primary Diagnostic Laboratory Technician for Endocrinology; performs testing and reports results.
• Provides cross-training and support to Serology, Bacteriology, and Virology sections; handles specimens and testing.
• Maintains inventory, SOPs, QA participation, and proficiency testing; supports turnaround times.
• Communicates with submitters to discuss specimen requirements and results; assists troubleshoot when needed.
