Job summary

Raiffeisen Group IT GmbH, a Roth of RBI, seeks a data engineer to develop and maintain scalable data pipelines for regulatory reporting and data warehousing. You will build on-prem SQL Server and cloud Delta Lake/Databricks on AWS, transforming data from APIs and external systems into high-quality data products.

You will ensure data quality and governance while supporting BCBS239 and ECB RDARR compliance, and contribute to cloud/microservices-based platforms with strong collaboration with

Qualifications

• Hands-on development experience with Python and SQL.
• Experience with ETL/ELT, data modeling, and data quality monitoring.
• Familiarity with version control (GitHub) and CI/CD concepts.
• Experience with relational and NoSQL databases (MS SQL Server, PostgreSQL, DB2).
• Interest in cloud-based data platforms and modern data architectures.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain scalable data pipelines for regulatory reporting and data warehouses.
• Build and maintain on-premise and cloud data warehouses (SQL Server, Delta Lake/Databricks on AWS).
• Integrate data from APIs and external systems into standardized, high-quality data products.
• Support regulatory requirements (BCBS 239, ECB RDARR) including automation, testing, and validation.
• Contribute to cloud- and microservices-based data platforms and enforce data governance and lineage.
• Collaborate with data owners, analysts and stakeholders on architecture decisions.

Your mission:

• Development and maintenance of scalable and robust data pipelines for processing large and heterogeneous data volumes (Regulatory Reporting & Data Warehouse).
• Building and maintaining Data Warehouse solutions (on-premises in MS SQL Server and cloud-based with Delta Lake/Databricks on AWS).
• Integration and transformation of data from various sources (APIs, databases, external systems) into standardized and high-quality data products.
• Support in implementing regulatory requirements (e.g. BCBS 239, ECB RDARR Guide), including automation, testing, and validation.
• Participation in the introduction and integration of cloud- and microservices-based data platforms.
• Ensuring data quality, governance, and end-to-end data lineage in close collaboration with data owners, analysts, and other stakeholders.
• Active contribution to architectural and process decisions in the data engineering environment.

Your core competencies:

• Several years of hands-on experience in development with Python and SQL and willingness to improve skills in this technology based on ongoing tasks utilizing Databricks.
• Knowledge of ETL/ELT processes (e.g. Delta Live Tables, dbt, Autoloader or ingestion workflows), data modeling (e.g. Unity Catalog or similar tools), database design, and understanding of best practices for ensuring data quality (e.g. monitoring technical KPIs like accuracy, completeness, timeliness).
• Version control system knowledge (e.g. Github)
• Understanding of CI/CD processes and willingness to apply them in practice.
• Experience with relational and NoSQL databases (e.g. MS SQL Server, PostgreSQL, DB2).
• Enthusiasm for teamwork and a proactive approach to contributing to the execution of data strategies (e.g., implementing BCBS239 principles).
• Experience in developing and running data pipelines on modern cloud-based data processing platforms.

• Salary: In accordance with Austrian legal requirements, the minimum salary for this position is EUR 4.061,00 gross per month under the applicable IT Collective Agreement. The actual salary is typically higher and will be determined individually based on your qualifications, professional experience, and the specific requirements of the role.
