About The Role

The Construction Environment Manager oversees construction and commissioning environmental risks, permit requirements, and identifies opportunities for improvements to the general contractor's performance and outcomes.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  1. Promoting good environmental management and permit compliance as key aspects of all site works.
  2. Providing comments on the general contractor's method statements, the construction environmental management plan, process, and procedures to ensure all environmental risks and mitigations are considered appropriately.
  3. Timely reviewing all permits on site to ensure they are appropriate for construction and operations as per the design.
  4. Working closely with the EHS staff to address any collaborative risks.
  5. Attending site and client meetings as required.
  6. Undertaking regular site walkovers.
  7. Providing a strong client presence on site, working with and supporting the general contractor's EHS staff.
  8. Providing the data centre operations manager with environmental support for interpreting environmental and social aspects of the project and permits.
  9. Keeping a tracker spreadsheet to log environmental events or incidents.
  10. Providing regular reports to the client.
  11. Supporting the handover process to the client's operations team to ensure understanding of permit and legislative requirements, including providing legislative matrices, training, and compliance advice.
  12. Remaining within your role's remit and conducting additional responsibilities with full awareness and approval from your line manager.

About You

Who we’re looking for:

Experience, Knowledge, and Key Skills

  1. Experience in environmental compliance management within the construction sector - 5+ years.
  2. Strong background in site supervision of schedule-focused construction sites.
  3. Excellent knowledge of European environmental regulations impacting the construction industry. Knowledge of Austrian national regulations is highly desirable.
  4. Knowledge and practical experience in field planning/coordination, progress reporting, risk identification and escalation, and schedule/budget oversight.
  5. Ability to handle and interpret large amounts of information, including confidential data.
  6. Analytical skills.
  7. Ability to work well within teams.
  8. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  9. Fluency in English; knowledge of German is preferred.

Qualifications

  1. Degree in Environmental Sciences or a similar field, or an Engineering degree (Building, Civil) with additional qualification in environmental management.
