LAM RESEARCH Corporation in Austria’s Villach region seeks a Mechanical Engineer to lead development of mechanical and electro-mechanical systems for semiconductor applications. You will perform feasibility studies, guide design from concept to fabrication, and ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards.

You’ll collaborate with suppliers and internal teams, present analyses, and mentor junior engineers while driving innovative, cost-effective solutions.

Qualifikationen

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Physics or related field with 5+ years of experience; or Master’s degree with 3+ years; or equivalent experience.
• Experience in mechanical design or concept engineering.

The impact you’ll make

As a Mechanical Engineer at Lam, you're designing and defining cutting‑edge mechanical and electro‑mechanical systems. Your role involves feasibility studies, testing, and guiding teams in detailed design and fabrication. You provide the crucial design information needed to shape our technology's packaging.

What you’ll do

• Drive innovative mechanical development projects during the concept and feasibility phases, focusing on novel technologies and breakthrough approaches for future semiconductor applications.
• Develop and evaluate engineering concepts, applying strong problem‑solving skills, creativity, and technical expertise to transform ideas into viable solutions.
• Prepare and present high‑quality technical reports, analyses, and design review presentations to effectively communicate design intent, evaluation results, and validation outcomes to cross‑functional stakeholders.
• Collaborate closely with suppliers and internal engineering teams to ensure solutions are manufacturable, cost‑effective, reliable, and compliant with product requirements.
• Provide technical leadership, guidance, and mentorship to junior engineers, fostering professional growth and engineering excellence.
• Ensure designs and system concepts meet all applicable engineering, compliance, safety, and regulatory requirements.
• Support risk assessments, trade‑off analyses, and technical decision‑making throughout the product development process.

Who we’re looking for

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Physics or related field with 5+ years of experience; or Master’s degree with 3+ years; or equivalent experience.
• relevant engineering experience in mechanical design, or concept engineering with 2+ years of experience
• Strong analytical skills and numerical aptitude, with the ability to evaluate complex technical challenges.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
• Ability to independently drive technical investigations and collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Additional experience in semiconductor equipment or advanced technology development environments, with a particular focus on hands‑on hardware testing.

What We're Offering

This position is subject to the Austrian Collective Bargaining Agreement for Employees in the Metal Technology Industry in occupation group F. The monthly salary is paid 14 times per year.

Our hybrid roles combine the benefits of on‑site collaboration with colleagues and the flexibility to work remotely and fall into two categories – On‑site Flex and Virtual Flex. ‘On‑site Flex’ you’ll work 3+ days per week on‑site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, with the opportunity to work remotely for the balance of the week. ‘Virtual Flex’ you’ll work 1-2 days per week on‑site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, and remotely the rest of the time.
